About

Laura Deane's passion for interior design lies in exceeding clients' expectations by harmoniously combining form and function. The commitment to personalised interiors involves helping clients discover objects with stories, emphasising the integration of both new and old elements for a visually appealing and comfortable living environment. In essence, her design process is dedicated to creating meaningful interiors that reflect the unique narratives and lifestyles of the individuals who inhabit the space.

Designing for Real Life

Understanding the challenges of maintaining a stylish yet functional home, Laura knows the importance of comfort and durability. Recognising the need for multi-functional spaces and efficient storage, our approach is grounded in real-life practicality. Our design philosophy revolves around creating spaces that are not just aesthetically pleasing for Instagram but are cool, collected, and ready for the challenges of everyday life.

Designing for a mood

In Laura’s approach to design, materiality, texture, and colour take centre stage, defining the palette that sets the mood for each project. By focusing on the sensory aspects of design, she ensures that spaces evoke specific emotions and experiences. This commitment to creating a distinctive ambiance contributes to the studio's reputation for seamlessly blending refined luxury with practicality. The belief is rooted in the idea that interiors should go beyond visual appeal, ultimately uplifting and enhancing the lives of those inhabiting the space.

Laura Deane

As a Sydney native, Laura’s passion for interior styling started with art. Having initially studied art history at Macquarie University with a major in Aboriginal Art and Business, she was always drawn to work that showed an incredible use of colour. Since then she has completed her Diploma of Interior Design at the Sydney Design School.

International travel, including studying Renaissance art at Bologna University, Italy, as well as working at Sotheby’s Australia and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, further contributed to Laura’s appreciation and passion for mixing vintage decor and accessories with beautiful functional modern furniture into all her client’s homes.

Guiding Design Principles

  • Vintage or second hand as often as possible.

  • Sell and not skip bin.

  • Celebrate original design. If the budget doesn’t allow for a designer piece we find something else - not a cheaper copy.

  • Source from businesses that are Australian made and owned as often as possible.

  • Support living and local artists and makers.
